Short answer: if you want New Mexico, Stripe Atlas isn't available, because it forms companies only in Delaware. Atlas is an excellent fit for venture-backed Delaware corporations. Our Non-US Founder Package is for foreign owners who want a New Mexico LLC, an EIN that doesn't depend on an SSN, and someone to prepare their bank application. We're the company behind that package, so treat this as our side of the comparison.

What Stripe Atlas does well

  • Venture-ready setup: 83(b) elections, equity issuance, and SAFEs on Cooley-drafted paperwork.
  • An inclusive price: the $500 already contains Delaware's fee and a year of agent service.
  • Stripe credits worth $2,500, and partner perks Stripe puts at about $50,000.
  • Next-day expedited filing in Delaware.
  • A refundable fee once $5,000 sits in Stripe Treasury.

The math for a New Mexico LLC

  • Atlas (Delaware), first year: $500, or effectively $0 after the Treasury refund.
  • Our package (New Mexico), first year: $449.
  • Each later year: $100 for Atlas's agent plus Delaware's flat LLC tax, against $99 for ours and no New Mexico report.
  • Bottom line: without the refund, we're $51 cheaper in year one; with it, Atlas is. Afterward, New Mexico's lighter upkeep does most of the work.

How our package works

  1. Order once, entering your company name and owner details.
  2. We submit your Articles of Organization through New Mexico's online portal. The state fee is $50, set by NMSA § 53-19-63(A).
  3. Your certificate of organization lands in your dashboard.
  4. You sign Form SS-4 digitally. Owners without an SSN can't use the IRS online tool, so this paper route is the standard one.
  5. Your bank application for our partners is complete at that point, carrying your certificate. You approve, we submit, and the IRS keeps working in parallel. Our partners decide on every account; approval isn't guaranteed.
  6. We fax the SS-4 in; your EIN typically follows in two to eight weeks.

Choose Stripe Atlas if

  • Your plan is a Delaware C-corp and a venture round.
  • You need stock issuance, SAFEs, or an 83(b) election right away.
  • You already sell through Stripe and would hold $5,000 in Treasury.

Choose our package if

  • Your company is an operating LLC, not a fundraising vehicle.
  • New Mexico's $50 filing and no annual report suit you.
  • You want the bank application written for you.

After formation in New Mexico

Keep a registered agent and office on file with the state; that's the whole periodic duty for a New Mexico LLC. Tax matters sit elsewhere: Form 5472 often applies to single-member LLCs owned from abroad, and whether you register for gross receipts tax turns on your line of business. Neither Atlas nor we prepare returns.

No. Atlas only incorporates in Delaware, as an LLC or a C-corp. A foreign owner who wants a New Mexico LLC has to use a New Mexico formation service.

Atlas at $500, which includes Delaware's filing fee and year-one agent service. Our New Mexico package is $449 all in ($399 plus $50). Atlas refunds its fee if you deposit $5,000 into Stripe Treasury, which can bring its net cost to zero.

What do the two cost after the first year?

I'm raising money from US investors. Should I use Atlas?

How does banking differ?
