What is a registered agent?

A registered agent is the person or entity designated to accept legal documents, service of process, and official correspondence on behalf of your New Mexico business. They must maintain a physical address in the state and be available from 9 AM to 5 PM Monday through Friday.

Does New Mexico require annual reports?

No. New Mexico does not have an annual report requirement for LLCs or corporations. There is also no franchise tax. Your registered agent is your primary ongoing compliance obligation.

Can my business be its own registered agent?

No. New Mexico does not allow a business entity to serve as its own registered agent. You must designate an individual (NM resident, 18+) or an authorized service.

Can I serve as my own agent?

Yes, if you are a New Mexico resident aged 18 or older with a physical street address available from 9 AM to 5 PM every weekday. The tradeoff: your home address goes on the public record.

How much does your service cost?

$99 per year covers the full agent role — your New Mexico address on file, same-day scanning of service of process and legal mail, portal access, and privacy. No setup fee. Want a physical original mailed to you instead of just scanned? That's available for a small per-piece charge; see the mail policy below.

What is the fee to change my registered agent?

The state fee varies by entity type: $20 for LLCs, $25 for corporations, $10 for nonprofits. This is paid to the New Mexico Secretary of State, not to us.

What changed in December 2024?

New Mexico made online filing mandatory. Paper submissions are no longer accepted. This applies to all business filings, including registered agent changes.

How fast will I know when something arrives?

Same business day, every time. We scan documents the day they arrive and deliver them through email and your online portal, so you are not waiting on the physical mail to know what landed.

Why is New Mexico considered so business-friendly?

No annual reports, no franchise tax, $50 LLC formation fee, fast processing (1-3 days), and now streamlined mandatory online filing. Your only ongoing state requirement is keeping a registered agent on file.

What type of mail will you accept on my behalf?

Our role in New Mexico is straightforward: we receive legal documents so the state can reliably reach your business entity. Service of process, subpoenas, lawsuits, Secretary of State correspondence, tax notices, and compliance reminders — that is what we handle.

Service of process is scanned and delivered the same business day it arrives, at no charge, with no yearly cap. Routine government correspondence (renewal notices, compliance reminders, and similar mailings) is scanned free for the first three pieces each year as a courtesy. Want the physical original mailed to you instead of just the scan — for service of process or anything else? That's available for a small per-piece charge.

Packages are not accepted, and we are not a general mail-receiving service, so this does not extend to ordinary business mail. Google Maps verification postcards, Amazon verification letters, and third-party verification mailings are also outside our service.
